Want to have a brief discussion about discussion attitudes here....

I've been on this forum for a while now, have seen a lot and done a lot.  Although the overall experience here has been a positive one, recently I felt pretty tired moderating.  I think mainly this is not due to one single factor on the forum, but an amalgamation of various negative things.  First of all, I really think the use of language and attitude of many of our members are very poor and contentious.  We are here to have fun, not to argue with each other.  I've been on Timezone.com for a long time and have never seen this type of repeated negativity.  I only moderate 2 sub-forums and already feel this way so I really sympathize with our main moderators.  I really think our members should clean their acts up or else we are never going to have a good discussion platform.  Perhaps we need stricter rules about what can be said or not said.  Second of all, members ask too much from the moderators but don't give back enough themselves, a forum should not be dictated by any single person's opinion but should be the result of a combination of all opinions.  However, when making these opinions we need to be respectful, which I don't think some of our members display a whole lot towards others, especially towards the moderators.  Know this, we work for free on the forum, sometimes we might not be timely due to personal reasons, but we try our best.  We also have emotions, like when I am writing this post I am unhappy about an encounter I had on the forum, so please be more understanding.  The basic duty for a moderator is simply to review the validity of the posts and make proper adjustments, but if we are to offer opinions it doesn't mean it's the correct one.  However, it also doesn't mean we have to to be 100% correct about everything, so don't hold us against that. 

I really hope our forum can be better by the day but it's going to take the effort of everyone to do so.  So let us improve ourselves in our knowledge for watches and all make friends with one another.  Please do offer your opinions after hearing my bickering.

this is a good website.  it has more sections than watchbus.com, where i normally browse.

 

the only thing negative i have to say about this site is the buy/sell section (flee market).

i think the website should seriously consider kicking those watch stores outta there.

it's a good place for people to buy/sell watches, but since lots of them are professional watch vendors,

they continuously inundate the section with advertisements and meaningless posts.

 

also, i think the buy/sell agent (middle man) system is way too complicated and ridiculously expensive.

 

all in all, good website :)

 It's good to hear some fresh sound coming from this desolate section of the forum.  Harriway I suppose you are Taiwanese and frequent watchbus?  I traveled to Taipei last month and had a informal meeting with some of the people in Watchbus, were you also there?  Mostly we showed off our antique pocket watches with the respectable Mr.Chen (Joe) leading the way.  In regards to the buy and sell activities here, I think we are going through a tough phase trying to adapt a workable system where large sellers that pay commission to the forum will get their deserved benefits and the individual buyer/sellers will also be able to still trade.  We'll just have to wait to see what happens.  I think the force here is the number of watch friends you can interact with as well as the multiplicity of topics.  So enjoy yourself here and don't forget to contribute!
